2 December, 2021; A convincing 43% of Aussies plan to never or reluctantly return to the shops after COVID-19. But shoppers are split about how they’ll get their future retail fix, with 39% desperate to pound the pavement and do traditional Christmas shopping. These are findings from global customer engagement and mobile messaging provider MessageMedia (https://messagemedia.com), which today released its report – Retail’s Tech Revolution.

The new research also reveals four new Australian shopper personas based on a survey of 1000 participants.

MessageMedia found Australians were most likely to be Digital Devotees (31%) or Experience Enthusiasts (31%), followed by Local Legends (26%) and Reluctant Returners (12%). Please see appendix below for more stats on these distinct demographics.

Aimed at supporting retailers of all sizes as Australia emerges from COVID-19 restrictions, the research has also found:

  • 41% plan on shopping online at the same volume as during the pandemic.
  • One-third of men are still concerned about health and safety risks of in-store shopping, compared to almost a quarter of women (24%).
  • 40% of Australians have visited an online or physical store as a result of receiving an SMS from a retailer.

MessageMedia Chief Marketing Officer Tara Salmon said: “While our research shows a quarter of Australians want to avoid the shops this peak sales period and indefinitely into the future, there’s still a significant group that are keen to ‘hit the stores’ for deals once more. With Aussies split on how they want to shop going forward, it’s important for retailers to be prepared for both online and physical shoppers in the weeks, months, and even years ahead.

“We’ve seen our SMS communication technology implemented by retailers for both in-store and online marketing campaigns, and demand for our platform continues to grow exponentially even after COVID-19 lockdowns. It’s important that retailers of all sizes – from Mum and Dad shops to major national labels – keep up with technology as shopping evolves.”

The partnership delivers the only five-star certified SMS app to the HubSpot sales and marketing community

DENVERJune 4, 2021 — Global business messaging provider MessageMedia (www.messagemedia.com) has launched SMS for HubSpot (https://ecosystem.hubspot.com/marketplace/apps/marketing/marketing-automation/messagemedia-218459), an integration with the leading CRM platform for scaling companies and has joined HubSpot’s App Partner Program as an app partner with a certified integration.

With an increasing rise in email clutter and marketing noise, SMS cuts through with 90% read within 90 seconds (http://www.oracle.com/us/dm/omc-wp-mme-mobilemktg-15-4121699.pdf). There is a growing demand for hyper-personalized communications received in real-time, that truly engages.

The SMS for HubSpot integration, available globally, provides marketers with the ability to gain a single view of their customers through personalized cross-channel campaigns, all from within HubSpot’s CRM platform. HubSpot users can seamlessly add the cut-through of SMS reminders, confirmations, promotions and more to extend the effectiveness of their communications and marketing strategies.

Paul Perrett, Chief Executive Officer at MessageMedia said, “The need for businesses to be agile and adjust to changing customer behavior and preferences is greater than ever.

“We’re thrilled to launch SMS for HubSpot and to have our integration certified in their App Partner Program as we continue to help businesses around the world drive greater ROI, strengthen customer relationships, and increase referrals while saving time and money,” said Mr Perrett.

To become a certified integration, integrations are required to meet specific criteria from HubSpot to successfully service and manage clients using the platform. SMS for HubSpot has also been featured as part of HubSpot’s exclusive Workflows app collection.

“At HubSpot, we’re always looking for innovative companies to bring into the HubSpot ecosystem,” said Scott Brinker, VP of platform ecosystem at HubSpot. “We’re excited to have MessageMedia as a member of our App Partner Program and are confident they’ll bring meaningful value to our customers.”

Last year, leading ecommerce retailer Vinomofo started using the MessageMedia and HubSpot integration to win back customers who had stopped purchasing wine for up to 12 months. Previously, they had used email campaigns but wanted to avoid relying solely on one form of customer communication. They decided to streamline and integrate all marketing and communication tools and processes into a single solution – HubSpot’s all-in-one connected platform.

Using SMS for HubSpot, Vinomofo was able to create automated workflows that segmented their customer base based on their last purchase dates, then send and track SMS activity within the one platform. Adding text messaging to their marketing toolkit achieved greater cut-through and re-engagement with customers they hadn’t been able to reach before. This resulted in a 50% increase in recovered customers, 21% more customer conversations, and 120x return on investment.

“We chose SMS in addition to email to help reduce churn because it allows us to reach more customers which creates better cut-through and engagement for our campaigns,” said Mariano Favia, Head of Marketing at Vinomofo.

November 12, 2020: Denver, Colorado – Global business messaging provider MessageMedia and Marquis Software, a leading platform for Offender Management Systems, are excited to announce the results of a research study designed to measure the impact of text messaging appointment reminders on individuals under community corrections supervision. The study found that using text messaging to send appointment reminders in advance of scheduled meetings reduced no-shows for individuals by as much as 43% when a reminder was sent the day before the scheduled meeting.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections deployed Marquis Software’s eOMIS® system for inmate management, electronic health records and community supervision. One key capability of the platform is its ability to automate the coordination and scheduling of community supervision appointments. Historical data from the Arkansas Division of Community Correction (ACC) showed that nearly 20% of these appointments were not held, resulting in wasted time and effort for officers involved with managing these cases, and potential violations for parolees. ACC believed that by adding the ability to notify attendees via text messaging would result in fewer no-shows for appointments.

ACC contracted with Marquis Software to add text messaging capability to the eOMIS® platform. Marquis chose to partner with MessageMedia, due to its robust API, 20+ years experience, and reliable support and implementation team. The integration allowed the eOMIS® platform to automatically trigger text-based appointment reminders and process incoming appointment confirmations, while maintaining a complete history of all SMS communications within the eOMIS® database. At the same time, ACC conducted an externally-validated study to determine the effect of text messages, as well as the most ideal timing for them.

Some of the study’s conclusions were:

  • Sending one text message the day before the appointment resulted in 43% fewer no-shows for the scheduled appointments, compared to a control group that received no text message notifications.
  • The researchers recommended sending text message appointment confirmation reminders to everyone under community supervision as a matter of standard agency policy, given the relatively low cost and high return on investment.

Doug Rubingh, US President, MessageMedia commented, “We’re excited and proud to partner with Marquis as they innovate with SMS communications in corrections and criminal justice. Their use of SMS technology and MessageMedia serves a dual purpose of preventing reoffending and also saving taxpayers money, two things I think we can all get behind.”

Nicholas Stewart, Shared Services, Human Resources and Training Administrator, Arkansas Department of Corrections said, “The texting feature of eOMIS® has been a game-changer. Texting allows the offender to be held much more accountable for meeting appointments and financial obligations.”

November 10, 2020: Melbourne, Australia – Australia’s largest business messaging provider, MessageMedia Group, has welcomed SimpleTexting to its Group. SimpleTexting is a US-based messaging platform with current annualised revenue of over US$12 Million and more than 10,000 business customers.

The acquisition extends MessageMedia’s existing footprint in the North American market to now service more than 20,000 local business customers and will allow SimpleTexting to continue its impressive growth with additional resources and support.

SimpleTexting’s user-friendly subscription platform is the messaging partner of choice for small and medium sized US businesses through to Fortune 500 including well-known companies like Starbucks, DHL and FedEx. The business has experienced triple-digit growth in 2020, bolstered by many North American companies rapidly evolving their customer communication and digital transformation strategies during the COVID pandemic.

With a track record of helping businesses evolve their SMS marketing capabilities, SimpleTexting has invested in conversational 1:1 messaging, which aligns strongly with MessageMedia’s strategy of driving greater customer engagement through mobile.

MessageMedia Group CEO Paul Perrett said, “We greatly admire SimpleTexting’s high-quality platform, talented team and consistent customer growth. Its easy to use platform is highly complementary to MessageMedia’s solutions and we’re excited to support more SMBs across North America who want to engage with their customers.”

“Together both businesses will be able to accelerate development, share knowledge and enhance scale of operations.”

SimpleTexting Co-Founder Gene Sigalov said, “We are proud of our team, the success we’ve had as a business over the last decade and we’re thrilled to take this next step in our journey with the backing of MessageMedia.”

“Leveraging MessageMedia’s global experience and industry leading technology, our focus will be on accelerating US growth and supporting more businesses through their rapid digital transformation and customer engagement needs.”

The SimpleTexting founders, who launched the business in New York in 2010, will remain with the business along with the organisation’s more than 60 employees.

Melbourne-headquartered MessageMedia will now generate over 25% of its revenue in the US with the region experiencing rapid growth. More than 50,000 businesses globally use MessageMedia Group solutions to send over four billion messages annually.
